South Tahoe Disc Golf Association (South Tahoe DGA) was created with the purpose of maintaining and improving local disc golf courses and promoting the sport of disc golf throughout our community and the Sierra Tahoe Region. South Tahoe DGA operates as a not for profit disc golf club. All proceeds generated by STDGA are used to maintain and improve our local courses; Bijou Disc Golf Course and Zephyr Cove Disc Golf Course, and for promoting disc golf events at our local disc golf courses and in the Sierra Tahoe Region.
South Tahoe DGA works in conjunction with the City of South Lake Tahoe Parks and Recreation Department to help maintain and improve Bijou Disc Golf Course. Our members also assist Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department with improvements and maintenance at Zephyr Cove Disc Golf Course, when called upon. South Tahoe DGA members are all volunteers. Our members are local disc golfers that love their sport, want to help promote the sport of disc golf and help maintain the world class disc golf courses located in this recreation destination. In order to generate the necessary funds, South Tahoe DGA sells club discs and tee shirts, and conducts weekly and monthly fund raising events. These funds have been used to make repairs to local courses and to purchase numerous items for the courses such as; baskets, tee pads, tee signs and benches.
South Tahoe DGA is committed to promoting the sport of disc golf throughout our community and region. Our members conduct instructional clinics for local youth to help introduce them to the sport of disc golf. We also conduct weekly, monthly and annual tournaments at our local courses to encourage disc golfers of all ages, genders and abilities to share the unique disc golfing experience our local courses have to offer. South Tahoe DGA is the host club of two Pro/Am tournaments every year. These Pro/Am tournaments attract Professional and Amateur players from all over the country that want to play a tournament in a recreation destination like Lake Tahoe. South Tahoe DGA volunteers conduct the “Tahoe Pro/Am” which has been taking place at Bijou Disc Golf Course since 1995. Our volunteers also conduct the “King of the Lake”, which is a tournament that challenges contestants to play courses all round Lake Tahoe to find the best player, the King of the Lake. Our members also work with other disc golf clubs in our region to help with their Pro/Am tournaments which are all part of the Sierra Tahoe Series (STS). The STS is a series of disc golf tournaments that incorporates all the courses around the Sierra Tahoe Region, at which players earn points at each event and a series champion is crowned at the end of the series.
We hope to see you out there enjoying the numerous courses all around the beautiful Sierra Tahoe Region.
